Sky Safari

Grades K-2

Explore the the wonders above your head in more detail than you ever could in your backyard. Students in grades K-2 will explore the motion and patterns of day and night, the phases of the moon, and the changing seasons as viewed from planet Earth.

Scouts

Scouting is a fantastic way to learn and get in touch with the world around you! The MARS Planetarium is excited to support Scout programs by offering comprehensive lessons to help earn astronomy merit badges, pins, patches, and belt loops!

Scouts will learn to navigate the night sky using our 30-person Pathfinder dome, and (weather permitting) even look through a real telescope! See the moon, planets, and nebulae up close! Not dark enough to see the stars? Use a special solar filter to safely witness the power of the Sun!

Scott Mitchell

Scott is a passionate astronomy educator, boasting over a decade teaching astronomy and working in planetariums, armed with a Bachelors of Science in Physics and a Masters in Aerospace Engineering. From the curiosity sparked watching Star Trek as a kid to the present, Scott has worked in domes of all sizes, fostering a love for the cosmos. With a track record of engaging tens of thousands of students across the country, his mission is clear: making astronomy accessible and exciting for all.
